Week Eight

Parents/Caregivers,

Week 8 has been another great week in 2M! This week we have been busy organizing our ‘Design Afternoon’ for you next Thursday (8th) afternoon at 2pm. We have been busy building, creating, planning, drafting, designing, singing, dancing and constructing. We are so excited to share this afternoon with you.

In Literacy this week we have been looking closely at our recount writing. We are really enjoying our writing now and we have great ideas that hook the reader in. Our recount writing has been about our weekends and past events. We spent some time this week planning our own movies and what they would be about. Our imaginations are fantastic and our ideas are endless. Some of us wrote 5 pages!
We also spent time working on our vocab, grammar and punctuation. We are getting better at editing our own writing and re-reading our own writing to make sure it makes sense.

In Maths this week we went shopping in the Woolworths catalogue. We were split up into groups and were given ‘$100’ to spend. We had to buy certain products such as healthy food, cleaning products, baby products and more. The closest group to spend the $100 spent $99. This was an engaging and real life learning experience for us, so if you ever go food shopping we would love to help you! We created our own grids and coordinates this week which was a lot of fun. Next week we get to swap with a friend and find the coordinates.
We are getting better and surprising Miss Renee with our ICT skills and understandings each day. We are reading e-books, using Maths and English programs and using Microsoft programs. We love computers!

This week we tried hard to give each other compliments. A compliment is saying something nice about someone else. A compliment makes somebody feel good. Miss Renee is encouraging us to say nice things to each other, look after each other and be good friends to each other. We had fun writing compliments about everyone in our class and Miss Renee used them to make us a surprise that she will give us at the end of the term!

Thanks for reading about our week and we will have more to share with you next week!

Miss Renee ☺

See you Thursday!
